The journey through an HIE diagnosis can be complex and overwhelming. Families often need guidance, emotional support, and detailed information to navigate the challenges they face, whether that’s within the first few weeks or later on as new diagnoses, impacts, and outcomes emerge.
Our HIE Hospital Ambassador Program offers families access to an experienced HIE community member who is deeply familiar with the participating hospital and its services, as well as the local community. Ambassadors go through extensive training to “be the bridge” between their local hospitals and connect families to Hope for HIE’s longitudinal support resources, including the latest news, programs, services, and initiatives tailored to each family’s unique needs.
Ambassadors also facilitate in-person events in the local area, providing opportunities to connect with other HIE families, share experiences, and expand support networks.
We know this model works, as we’ve seen many other NICU support organizations find success, and we know based on years of feedback from our community that families want dedicated support tailored to HIE. Together, we ensure that every family has the resources and connections they need to navigate this journey with hope and confidence.

Now, I want to fill in the gaps I felt during the early days of our child’s HIE diagnosis by acting as that local, in-person contact for support I wish I had.
