Recently, many areas in the United States have experienced significant natural disasters displacing and impacting families. We are in close contact with many of our HIE families in impacted regions, and are always here to connect and support families facing situations in the wake of natural disasters, including dedicated social work, child life and peer support, as well as the coordination of mutual aid among our global support network of over 10,000 families.
Child Life Specialist, Annie Gunning, CCLS, GC-C, had the opportunity to volunteer in the greater Asheville, North Carolina area to provide support to families, and as always has some resources to offer for helping children process the trauma of experiencing natural disasters.
If you would like to connect with Annie to consult on a coping plan for your family, or additional child life resources, please fill out an intake form at HIE.support.
