Navigating HIE can be complex and overwhelming, and whether families are in the initial weeks of diagnosis or are dealing with new challenges, impacts, and outcomes over time, connecting them with guidance, support, and resources can make all the difference.
A NICU, PICU, or any planned or unplanned hospitalization at any moment of this journey can heighten the need for a strong support network, and that’s why we are piloting our local HIE Hospital Ambassador Program with experienced, trained HIE community members who are deeply familiar with the participating hospital and its services. They will help families navigate these critical times with a sense of community and confidence, connecting them with Hope for HIE’s essential resources, including the latest news, programs, and services tailored to each family’s unique needs.
In addition to providing personalized support, our ambassadors will organize quarterly in-person events in their local areas, giving our members opportunities to connect with other HIE families, share experiences, and build a supportive network.

We believe this pilot program will set the stage for expanding similar support models to other hospitals worldwide, ensuring that every family receives the resources and connections they need to navigate their HIE journey with hope and confidence.
We are hoping to expand with five additional sites identified in Fall 2024 to launch in 2025.
