We’re continually inspired by remarkable families like the Arnall Family, who have turned their personal journey with HIE into a powerful platform for raising awareness.
Not only has Braedn been deeply involved in spreading awareness about HIE within his local gym community, but he has also made a significant impact as an HIE Awareness Month Ambassador. By sharing Hope’s informational resources and engaging in local community engagement efforts, he has worked hard to inform and support others, ensuring that HIE families are not alone in their journey.
Braedn and Rhylyn
Can you share a bit about your connection to Hope for HIE?
My beautiful daughter, Rhylyn, has HIE. As a dedicated parent, I’ve made it a priority to educate myself as much as possible about her condition so I can support her needs in the best way possible. Hope for HIE has been an incredible resource for us, providing a community of understanding and shared experiences. Through this organization, I’ve not only gained invaluable knowledge about HIE but also found a network of people who truly understand the journey we’re on.
What inspired you to become an HIE Awareness Month Ambassador and engage in awareness efforts in your local gym and community?
Rhylyn has been coming to the gym with me for a few years, and the way the community there has embraced her has been truly heartwarming. They’ve always treated her like family, which inspired me to give back in a meaningful way. Organizing an HIE Awareness Month giveaway at the gym felt like the perfect opportunity to not only thank this amazing community but also raise awareness about HIE. I shared Hope for HIE’s educational brochures, handed out pens and wristbands, and used social media to spread the word further. It was a chance to shine a light on HIE, educate others, and help build understanding and support for families like ours.
What do you hope families learn about your story that can help their journey with HIE?
I hope families know that Hope is here for them. Watching your child go through something so terrible and life-threatening is one of the hardest things a parent can face. Cherish every single moment you have with your child, and remember that there’s a caring and supportive community here to remind you that you don’t have to face this journey alone.
What is one of your family’s favorite holiday traditions?
Honestly, having Rhylyn is the best tradition I could ever ask for. She’s like a healing presence in a world that’s constantly throwing curveballs our way.
The holiday season may only last a few short months, but the impact of supporting Hope to HIE is long-lasting. Consider joining in and making a difference, whether it’s through donations, volunteering opportunities, or spreading awareness of HIE.
Together, we can create a legacy of hope, compassion, and support that extends far beyond the holidays, leaving a lasting mark on families who need it most.
