Hope for HIE has assembled a multidisciplinary board to provide insight, scientific direction, and expertise to the Foundation from leading academic and medical institutions around the world. The members of the Medical Advisory Board are recognized experts in treating patients, and leading research on HIE, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, a type of brain injury that affects roughly 2-3 per 1,000 live births.
Led by Hope for HIE Board Member, Jennifer Kegyes, MA, CCC-SLP, this group of professionals will work to help Hope for HIE grow in its next phase of providing awareness, education and support for HIE.
“It is truly remarkable that we have gathered so many well-respected, experienced, and passionate clinicians and researchers who are as committed as we are to move forward research and care for families whose children have been diagnosed with HIE. We were very intentional to build a multidisciplinary board that is made up of the various specialties that families may need, as well as help us work towards decreasing the incidence of HIE and improving the quality of life for families,” stated Kegyes.
Members of the advisory board are tasked with collaborating on patient and family educational materials to ensure accurate information is published, identify collaborations for the foundation, and working with foundation leadership to move the mission of Hope for HIE forward.
“This is an exciting new venture for our organization, and one we have talked about forming since the inception of our foundation. I am so grateful for the dedication of Jennifer and the members of the advisory board and look forward to what is to come,” stated Betsy Pilon, President, Hope for HIE.
