Meet Kaycie Liptak!

She’s one of our HIE Awareness Month ambassadors this year, and is a Super Sibling to Drew. Learn more about her journey and experience below in our Q&A:

What is your story and connection to HIE?

My sister was born with it when I was 6 years old. She spent 69 days in the NICU. It was caused by a doctors mistake.

How did you first hear about HIE?

I was only 6 when my mom told me about it so I didn’t fully understand it.

How did you first hear about Hope for HIE?

My mom became friends with six other moms that lived locally to us and went on a moms retreat. I’m pretty sure they were one of the first to do a moms retreat.

What do you want the world to know most about your story and HIE?

I want parents with non-HIE kids to know what it’s like for us. And for “super sibs” to know they aren’t alone since it’s so easy to feel alone!
