We grieve as one community and come together to support our loss families.
It is a heartbreaking fact that we lose too many of our HIE babies and children. We cherish their legacies and grieve with their families. Hope for HIE works to ensure that no one faces HIE alone, and is committed to providing support for families facing the loss of their beautiful children gone too soon.
Every April 20th, we hold worldwide HIE Remembrance Day, where our community pauses and joins into reflect and remember, and create a worldwide wave of light, lighting the night to show support for our loss families.
If you have experienced the loss of your HIE child, we invite you to join with other families who are here to support you. Our Loss Coordinator, Becky Detlef, ensures families are connected to peer-to-peer support, can help seek out local bereavement resources in conjunction with our social worker, and also provides further connection to foundation loss support programs. In addition, we have a Peer Support Mentor program for families new to HIE loss.
If you’d like your child to be included in this online memorial, please email a photo and details to admin@hopeforhie.org.
