Medical Advisory Board welcomes Dr. Ulrike Mietzsch and Katie Taylor, CCLS

We continue building out the most comprehensive multidisciplinary group to advise us as we grow and fulfill our mission and are excited to announce the appointments of Dr. Ulrike Mietzsch and Katie Taylor, CCLS to Hope for HIE’s Medical Advisory Board.

Ulrike Mietzsch, MD

Dr. Ulrike Mietzsch is a Neonatologist at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Division of Neonatology. She is the Co-Director of the Neonatal Neurocritical Care Program (NeuroNICU) at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Her research interest is focused on the investigation of biomarkers, new therapies, and the application of innovative technologies, with the goal to improve diagnostic abilities and neurodevelopmental outcome in neonates with brain injury, particularly HIE.

She has also been participating in, and now leading, Hope for HIE’s registry steering committee.

Katie Taylor, CCLS

Katie Taylor is the co-founder and CEO of Child Life On Call, a digital platform revolutionizing pediatric healthcare by putting parents at the center of the medical journey. With over 13 years of experience as a certified child life specialist, Katie has made significant contributions to the field. She is an accomplished author, an engaging speaker on child life and entrepreneurship, and the host of the Child Life On Call Podcast. Katie’s work emphasizes the vital role of child life services in supporting caregivers and enhancing children’s medical journeys.

Through a partnership that formalized and kicked off in 2023 between CLOC and Hope for HIE, all HFH families have access to Child Life services including a Child Life specialist and access to the Child Life On Call App.
